Our friend, Brother Knight, and Past Grand Knight, Ray Audet, was severely injured in a horrendous fall from a ladder on Sunday, October 6, while cutting a large tree branch at his home. He drastically injured both legs and was hospitalized for nine days prior to being moved to a rehab facility. He must remain off his legs for a couple of months and will face more operations in the future. Rehabilitation and walking again will be a long term process which could last many months to a year. Being self-employed with the loss of income, the family will face significant personal and medical expenses for the foreseeable future.
The Knights of Columbus Council #3175 has established a recovery fund for Ray and his family at TN Bank in Oak Ridge.

After several years, the tradition of a Fall Festival Golf outing returned on September 21st.
Many Knights participated in this event at the Patch Golf Course. A total of 44 golfers participated in this fun event. Father Neil was the celebrity golfer, and his performance was something to see. We were honored to have Father Ray and Sister Mary John at the awards luncheon. Even LT Governor McNally came to see our event.
Brother Knights who participated included Deacon Dave Duhamel, Dave Zakrzwski, Rick Sample, Ben Hardy, Dr. Chuck Orton, James Mueller, and Jeff Stitz. Larry and Coleen Carignan provided outstanding support for the event which was hosted by John and Kim Lulay.
The real winner of this event was our Parish which received significant proceeds from the hole sponsors, golf events and silent auction.

The Father McRedmond council of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s church in Oak Ridge celebrated their 75th Anniversary on October 24th, 2023. A celebration was had at the church on the 28th in the Family Life center. Over 40 knights attended including 10 Past Grand Knights and their families.
The Knights of Columbus are the world’s largest Catholic fraternal Service Organization. We were founded in 1882 by Blessed Father Michael McGivney, a simple parish priest coincidentally at St. Mary’s parish in New Haven CT. Our founding principles which we continue to uphold are Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. In later years we added the principle of Patriotism.
In Oak Ridge the Knights were chartered on October 24th in 1948. WWII had ended three years prior and we were no longer a secret city. Our government was transitioning from a war time economy to a peace time economy. It probably wasn’t even certain that Oak Ridge would continue to exist, but a few Catholic Gentleman led by our 2nd Pastor Father Francis McRedmond formed this group that we are celebrating today.
What else happened in 1948
The Nation of Israel was created, 5 Arab nations attacked it.
Communists Seized control in Czechoslovakia.
Berlin Airlift began and continued for 18 months.
Harry Truman ends racial segregation in the Military.
The 33 1/3 LP record was created.
Planned Parenthood was created.
